As an engineer at OPCoE, you will support a variety projects and programs developing new and innovative electro-optical, space-based solutions for commercial, industrial, scientific, military, and other government customers ranging across passive, active, and directed energy capabilities.
Our Team Is Responsible For:
o Championing Optical Payload designs for active/passive optical payloadso Conducting research and planning development and design of gas and solid state lasers, masers, infrared, and other light emitting and light sensitive deviceso Designing mechanical, optical, and/or electro-optical components with specific characteristics to fit within specified mechanical limits and to perform according to specificationso Conducting application analysis to determine commercial, industrial, scientific, military or other use for electro-optical deviceso Supporting RF and Electro-Optical systems by developing concepts and system design for communication, ISR, and EW missions using Optical and Photonic Integrated Circuit Chips (PICs) and devices such as lasers, detectorso Understanding optical and RF test equipment for optical loss, spur free dynamic range, noise figure, etc.
o Partner with Lines of Business (LOB), OPCoE Program Development, and OPCoE Payload Systems Engineering teams to develop architectures in a consistent manner to allow use of common productso In coordination with OPCoE Program Development, propose and execute IRAD projects with a goal of standardization and maturation.
You will identify targeted products to reach a higher TRL.
o Implement and lead technical knowledge management to develop and maintain core competencies, key technical skills, knowledge continuity and facilitate career advancement opportunities to employees.
Our primary program facilities are located in Sunnyvale, CA and Louisville, CO.
Basic
Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree or Beyond in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, optical, engineering, systems engineering, phsyics or other related technical discipline o Knowledge or Experience of Analog and Digital Electronics, FPGA, Embedded system and an understanding of Electro/Optical.
o Experience in working with various diverse discipline engineering teams such as electrical, optical, mechanical, system, etc.
through all phases of the product life cycle.
o Knowledge or experience in manufacturing, producibility, and/or qualification of optical subsystems including optical benches, focal plane subsystems and telescopes o Experience in the requirements development and verification of electro-optical hardware at multiple levels of technical maturity o Prior knowledge or experience in Zemax OpticStudio, Code V or a related tool o You will need maintain a US Top Secret Security clearance to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills:
To be successful, ideally, you should also have:
o Electro-Optical (EO) experience or demonstrated knowledge consisting of advanced optical/infrared material and coatings, and/or state-of-the-art sensors or advanced laser systems o Experience in setting up alignment budgets, optical sensitivity analysis, and coating design o EO/IR (infrared) sensor system technical experience including performance modeling, system development, focal plane array physics, requirements generation, and/or signal and processing o Experience with remote sensing programs o Troubleshooting and/or failure analysis of sophisticated hardware o Experience working with and managing analog and digital electronics systems.

The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees.
Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $109,500 - $209,900.

PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, and New York is $125,900 - $237,400.
