1 hour ago Full Job Description Overview The Louisville Rec Center is currently looking for experienced and energetic Fitness Instructors! This position is under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent and will perform duties related to instructing and leading individuals in fitness and recreational activities.
Programs include, but are not limited to:
group exercise, weight training, cycling, dance, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates and more!.
The goal of the Fitness Instructor is to affect positive change in people's lifestyles through exercise and wellness education.
This position is open to applicants for both regularly-scheduled classes and applicants who would prefer to instruct on a substitution basis.

Examples of Duties Develops class content appropriate to the course description and level Provides appropriate warm-up and cool down Instructs participants in proper fitness exercise techniques Monitors participants and their ability to ensure proper use of equipment and technique Provides proper instruction for various muscle groups including mat work or dry-land training Provides a safe class environment Provides positive feedback to class participants Attend staff meetings Participate in related activities within the department Complete and turn in time sheets on time and communicate effectively with supervisor, class participants, fellow employees, etc.
General Qualifications Previous experience instructing group exercise and fitness/wellness programs in a recreational facility setting Must hold current fitness and CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain in first 60 days Group Fitness certification (AFAA, NETA, ACE, or equivalent) required Additional Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Give verbal instructions and communicate clearly Work with, instruct, and supervise fitness participants with limited supervision Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public Work well with a variety of communication styles Organize activities in order to complete tasks (which may be complex, routine, or repetitive) in accordance with priorities and to address multiple demands without losing concentration or becoming distracted by external activities Navigate class interruptions, equipment failures or unusual demands Strong desire to work with groups Work with culturally diverse people Special License, Registration, or Certification Must have current national fitness certification(s), such as AFFA, NETA, ACE or equivalent group exercise certification.
Must possess current CPR/AED and 1st Aid certification or be willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Work Environment:
Work will be performed in an indoor environment which often includes exposure to loud noise levels.
Other Necessary Requirements:
Candidates may be required to complete and pass a pre-placement physical, substance screen, and/or a background investigation prior to employment.
Physical Requirements of the Job:
Work requires bending and standing for long periods of time.
Work is considered very physical.
Frequently reaching, sitting, lifting, jumping, running, pushing, pulling, walking and requires the use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Requires physically exerting activity.
Required to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to see, hear, and verbally communicate effectively.
Required to speak loudly for participants to hear in a noisy environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
