Temporary 6 hours ago Full Job Description Overview The City of Louisville is seeking a welcoming and impartial Youth Sports Official! Under the supervision of the Sports and Athletics Supervisor, this position is responsible for being a referee and officiating programs including, but not limited to youth soccer, flag football, basketball, and other sports programs for the Louisville Recreation Center.
Possible hours are during Friday evenings 5pm to 9pm and Saturdays with varying hours between 9am to 5pm.
This is a part time position that has potential to become a year round role.
This position includes a free monthly Rec Center Pass.

Examples of Duties Officiates youth games as assigned and acts as Referee.
Interprets and administers all playing rules.
Ability to responsibly oversee the use of recreation facilities and sports equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships with the public.
Maintain simple records.
Provide a safe environment for participants to compete.
Posses excellent communication skills; understand and carry out oral and written instruction.
Remain partial and fair to all teams and participants.
Maintain knowledge of the rules, positioning and mechanics for each sport.
(will train as needed) Create a welcome atmosphere in sports programs and develop sportsmanship behaviors in participants.
Other duties as assigned General Qualifications Minimum age 15 years is required.
Experience working with youth strongly desired.
Previous experience instructing and/or participating in activities in recreational or competitive sports setting.
General knowledge of soccer, flag football and basketball rules.
Ability to learn and apply all basic rules and regulations for soccer, flag football and/or basketball; Able to make quick decisions using sound judgment; calls in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
Additional Information SPECIAL LICENSE, REGISTRATION, OR CERTIFICATE REQUIRED:
CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willing to obtain in first 3 months.
The Louisville Recreation Center will provide this certification if needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequent exposure to noise levels that may cause distractions.
Work is performed in an outdoor environment, inclement weather conditions, which include heat, rain, wind and sun.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
Must be able to simulate athletic movements necessary to officiate sports.
Must have the physical ability to perform physical activities for prolonged period of time.
Must be able to run, see, hear, and effectively communicate to sports participants.
Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
The noise level is moderate to loud.
Requires indoor and outdoor activities.
Requires considerable amount of standing and running occasionally during inclement weather.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
